It is now five weeks since the start of the 2007 school year. Students are well into their studies and at the senior level they will be moving towards their internal NCEA assessments. Parents should expect their senior students will have many ‘assignments’ on the go.
It is important students continue to work steadily to ensure they do not get behind. Success for our NCEA students depends on maintaining good work habits. This includes using their diary to highlight things such as due dates, homework and important events. If the students feel they have no homework they can always be reading or reviewing their work to assist in clarifying their understanding.
In the junior school students also need to develop good routines. They should be using their diaries, recording homework, important information and events that concern them. Although they may not have the pressure of assessments for NCEA, they
will still be required to do regular homework by their teachers.
It is also pleasing to see the large number of students who are signing up for this year’s sports teams. By joining a team they will not only enjoy the companionship of their peers but also the pride of representing Rangitikei College.
Dave Karena
It is with great sadness that we note the recent passing of Dave Karena our College Kaumatua. Uncle Dave was a great source of support and strength to the College and his passing leaves a large void to fill.
Uncle Dave’s funeral was attended by a great number of staff and students as a sign of our respect for all he did for the College.
